Prominent Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny is staring down the barrel of yet another criminal case this week, facing a further 15 years in prison

Taking to social media, the Russian opposition leader says he’s been charged with creating an extremist organisation and inciting hate toward authorities.

In March, Navalny was found guilty of fraud and contempt of court and thrown behind bars for nine years.

On top of this, he was already serving a two-and-a-half-year sentence.

This all comes just eight days since the outspoken public figure began with the most recent nine-year high-security jail term.

Russian authorities are claiming Navalny created an extremist group in order to incite hatred towards officials and oligarchs.

Navalny has been outspoken against the ongoing war in Ukraine, attacking Putin during a court appearance, and labeling the invasion “stupid”.
