Death, chaos and confusion erupt in Independence Day shootings

Highland Park, located less than 30 miles from Chicago, saw a tragic mass shooting on Monday during the town’s Fourth of July parade that left seven people dead, and more than 36 others injured.

The accused shooter Bobby Eugene Crimo III, is in police custody after officials say the 21-year-old unleashed 70 rounds from a nearby rooftop allegedly gunning down dozens of spectators at the holiday event. He has since been charged with seven counts of first-degree murder.

On Tuesday, Illinois law enforcement said they interacted with the shooting suspect twice before this week’s mass shooting incident.

Meanwhile, across the country, along the East Coast in Philadelphia, two police officer were shot as chaos and confusion erupted during a holiday fireworks display. Officials say a city officer sustained a graze wound to the head and a Montgomery County sheriff’s deputy suffered a gunshot wound to the right shoulder in the shooting that erupted almost immediately at the onset of the city’s annual fireworks show on the Ben Franklin Parkway.

A $20K reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest of a suspect or suspects connected with the Philadelphia shooting.

Crude oil surges 7% amid fears of Middle East conflict; Strait of Hormuz disruptions may push Brent over $100.

Crude oil prices spiked dramatically as investors react to the growing risk of a wider conflict in the Middle East. U.S. crude surged 7.2 percent, trading near $71.84 a barrel, signalling heightened concern across energy markets.

The Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping chokepoint, has come under intense scrutiny. Rising war-risk insurance premiums and suspended tanker traffic are already slowing the movement of oil, creating ripple effects in global supply chains.

JPMorgan has warned that prolonged disruptions over three weeks could force Gulf producers to reduce output, potentially pushing Brent crude prices to between $100 and $120 a barrel. Markets are closely watching for developments that could reshape global energy pricing.
