Joe Biden to host Anthony Albanese at state dinner

This all follows the two leaders meeting at the AUKUS announcement

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has reportedly received a presidential invitation to visit the U.S. before the end of the year.

The trip will likely include a state dinner hosted by Joe Biden for the Prime Minister in the White House.

Reports suggest the wheels are now in motion following last week’s AUKUS announcement with Biden and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in San Diego.

The full state visit for Albanese is part of moves to underline the closeness of Australia-U.S. ties on the international stage in the wake of the nuclear submarines deal.

A full U.S. Presidential state dinner for the Prime Minister is a rare honour and a huge event for Australian media.

It will be the first high-profile dinner hosted by a U.S. president for an Australian prime minister in four years, and only the third this century.
