Stoltenberg says the Alliance will stand with Ukraine “today, tomorrow and for as long as it takes”

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has flown to Kyiv and met with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Top of the agenda was the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO, and requiring more weapons in its fight against Russia.

NATO has supported the war-torn nation throughout the conflict, since it began 14 months ago.

Stoltenberg says Ukraine has a rightful membership place in the Alliance.

“Let me be clear: Ukraine’s rightful place is in the euro-Atlantic family,” Stoltenberg told a press conference. “Ukraine’s rightful place is in NATO.

“And over time, our support will help you to make this possible.

“NATO stands with you today, tomorrow and for as long as it takes,” he said.
