Israel’s leadership battle: End of an era for Netanyahu?

Published

on

Israel’s current Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu has lashed out at the coalition, that is moving to remove the leader from power after 12 years in the role.

Netanyahu is calling on his right-wing allies to block the newly formed coalition from taking office.

It follows eight separate parties signing an agreement on Wednesday, stating that they would work together to oust Netanyahu and cease control of the country.

However, the coalition still faces significant hurdles, including receiving the required parliamentary backing to proceed with the leadership change.

This vote is expected to occur by next week at the latest, and there is still a possibility that defectors could derail the whole plan.

In his first comment since the agreement was signed, Netanyahu warned on Twitter that the coalition is “left-wing” and “dangerous”…

He also urged his allies to stand against the newly formed alliance.

What does this mean for Israeli/Palestine peace?
