Peng disappeared from public view for almost three weeks after making allegations that a former high-ranking Chinese official sexually assaulted her.

This disappearance sparked widespread concern and panic right around the world…

Peng has since reappeared, but questions still remain about her wellbeing and safety.

China’s foreign ministry says the incident is “not a diplomatic matter”… noting that the tennis player has recently attended some public events and had a video conference with the president of the International Olympic Committee.

The spokesperson believes “people should stop deliberately and maliciously hyping the issue up… let alone politicise this issue”.

Peng wrote a 16-hundred word post to Chinese social media platform Weibo alleging former Vice Premier Zhang”forced” her to have sexual relations with him.
