Rishi Sunak says the golden era of relations with China is over.
In his first foreign policy speech, the U-K Prime Minister says the previous stance on economic relations was “naive”.
Of course, Sunak has faced pressure from Tory backbenchers to be tougher towards China since he took over as P-M last months.
Sunak was speaking at the Lord Mayor’s Banquet in London… and follows protests in China over the country’s COVID lockdowns.
One BBC journalist was detained in Shanghai on Sunday, where he was reportedly held for hours before being released.
