Iraqi PM calls for calm after drone attack

The prime minister of Iraq has called for calm after a drone attack on his home within Baghdad’s high-security Green Zone

A drone filled with explosives struck his building, killing six bodyguards in what officials are describing as an alleged assassination attempt.

The attack has been condemned by both the US and Iran, and follows violent unrest and protest after recent elections.

Three drones were used in the attack, with two of them shot down before they could strike the target.

The city’s Green Zone is within an area of Baghdad that is considered safe and protected… housing many government buildings and foreign embassies.

Security forces say it is still too early to determine who carried out the attack, but investigations are continuing.
