Inside the world’s first space hotel

A futuristic holiday experience is on the horizon, with the world’s first space hotel expected for 2025

The Orbital Assembly Corporation has announced plans for two space stations with tourist accommodation.

The project comprises the Voyager Station, which will accommodate 400 guests, and the Pioneer Station, which will host up to 28 people.

The Voyager is set to open in 2027, but the Pioneer could open as soon as 2025.

“It’s going to get us the opportunity to have people start to experience space on a larger scale, faster,” says the company’s chief operating officer Tim Alatorre.

Orbital Assembly Corp plans to run the station as a space ‘business park’ with both hotel rooms and offices.

The stations will contain artificial gravity allowing guests to walk around the hotels as they’re home on Earth.

“Our vision is to make space a destination people will yearn to visit, with familiar elements provided by the presence of gravity.”

While the hotel makes space tourism a possibility, it may only be affordable for the ultra-rich.

Rooms in the voyager are reported to cost as much as $5 million for a three-night stay.

But Alatorre says the company aims to cater to a wide demographic.

“The goal has always been to make it possible for large amounts of people to live, work and thrive in space,” he says.
