A senior banking executive has reportedly been suspended for accusing other bankers of exaggerating the financial risks of climate change

The HSBC staffer says “there’s always some nut job telling me about the end of the world.”

Suart Kirk is believed to be behind the comments, he is who is the “Head of Responsible Investing” at the bank’s asset management division.

His role involves making investments based on environmental and social issues.

Kirk reportedly gave a presentation titled “why investors need not worry about climate risk” at a conference last week.

The firm’s executives have distanced themselves from the comments.

They say they do not agree with their colleague.
