Australia experiences 120% surge in electric vehicle sales in 2023, but regulatory hurdles slow adoption.

Australia has seen a steady uptake of EVs since the first Electric Vehicle (EV) was made available in 2008.

In the last few years, interest in EVs has skyrocketed, with the Electric Vehicle Council reporting that the first seven months of 2023 saw a 120% increase in new EVs sold compared to all of 2022.

While local interest has risen, many factors including a lack of regulatory reform by the government and the lack of infrastructure support have hindered many from switching.
