How Instagram’s new features will impact you

Instagram has announced two new features to benefit its users, including the long-awaited reverse chronological view

In some good news for Instagram lovers, the popular social media platform is adding two new modes to the main feed.

Instagram’s parent company Meta says the app will bring back the option to view feeds chronologically if they want to.

Five years ago Instagram switched to a more curated version of its platform that was based upon an algorithm that the user had no control over. After years of complaints, Instagram has listened to its users and introduced two new modes, favourites and following.

The following mode will offer the user more variety and control over what they see. It will help users eliminate any content they don’t want to see. This includes suggested posts and a pre-chosen algorithm.

It will allow users to see the latest posts from accounts that they follow and in the order that they are posted.

As for the favourites feature, users will have the ability to star 50 accounts, which will prioritise them in the feed. This list will not be made public.

Instagram’s CEO Adam Mosseri says that targeted advertisements plays a valuable role in user experience. However, users should have the right to experience Instagram with a chronological feed.

Does American media have TikTok bias?

Published

While the fate of TikTok remains uncertain in the U.S.—there is no shortage of possibilities.

Several investors are hoping to benefit from a new federal law that requires TikTok’s China-based parent company to sell the popular platform or face a ban.

This comes after ByteDance and TikTok filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government to block the law from going into effect.

Meanwhile, eight TikTok creators filed their own challenge, arguing the law violates their First Amendment rights to free speech.

But as the saga continues many media outlets are defending the platform.

David Zhang from China Insider joins Veronica Dudo to discuss. #IN AMERICA TODAY #trending #TikTok #TikTokban #socialmedia #China
