How China has made it possible for tourism to restart

It’s been of uncertain times, but now some nations are seeing tourism restart domestically.

China is seeing a much-needed boost in domestic travel as consumers take advantage of low Covid-19 infection rates.

Spending on travel throughout the nation has now reached pre-pandemic levels, with around 230 million trips made over five days, up until May 5.

These figures follow China’s domestic travel industry seeing similar results between April and August last year, but the second wave of Covid-19 brought this to a grinding halt.

However industry leaders say that this domestic travel bubble may pop, with Chinese residents increasingly wanting to try new experiences and explore other nations.

They also admit that “there are parts of China’s service industry which are definitely still not at international standards.”
