Biniam Grimay finished stage 10 with a blazing sprint in a historic victory at Giro d’Italia

However, the celebration turned rather bitter as champagne cork struck his eye on the winner’s podium.

Grimay was treated in the Ambulance after the celebrations.

He later missed the post-race interviews and was taken to the hospital for further care.

Grimay is now out of the Giro d’italia because of the eye injury.
