Climate campaigner Greta Thunberg has been detained by police at a protest outside a western German village
Thunberg was protesting with activists to help stop an abandoned German village from being demolished for the expansion of a coal mine.
Police told media the young climate campaigner was not arrested and would be released after they checked her ID.
Footage from the scene shows three officers carrying Thunberg from the protest as she smiles.
She was detained after a group “rushed towards the ledge” of a mine.
Police confirmed all of those detained in the group would be released without charge once their identifications had been checked.
