The world’s biggest search engine is facing a fresh lawsuit

Google is facing a lawsuit from a Florida restaurant chain who are accusing the tech giant of directing users to “unauthorized” Google-branded webpages.

It claims that it uses restaurants names without their approval.

It also alleges that Google employs “bait-and-switch” tactics by placing its ‘Order Online’ button at the top of restaurants profiles on the search engine.

The large button redirects users to a Google Food page, where they can order through a third-party service like DoorDash, and UberEats.

These services then take a commission from the restaurants, which could be up to 30-percent in some cases.

The lawsuit is seeking a class-action on behalf of other restaurants that may have lost orders to Google’s button.

A company spokesperson says Google will defend itself vigorously.
