Acting career
Hackman was celebrated for roles in films such as Bonnie and Clyde, Mississippi Burning, and Superman. His impressive career garnered two Oscars, three Golden Globes, and the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2003.
After serving in the Marines at 16, Hackman pursued a degree in journalism and television production at the University of Illinois. He married Arakawa in 1991, but the couple had no children. Hackman has three children from a previous marriage.
His last film role was in the 2004 comedy Welcome to Mooseport, after which he announced his retirement from acting. Following his retirement, he moved to New Mexico and largely stepped away from public life, dealing with some minor health issues.
