Foxtel Australia will investigate one of its programs, an American Christian television channel that is accused of spreading COVID-19 misinformation.

Daystar TV – owned and run by ‘televangelists’ Marcus and Joni Lamb – has been broadcasting on Foxtel in Australia since 2015 as part of their standard subscription package.

The program is the second largest Christian television network in the world, reaching a worldwide audience of 2 billion, with an estimated value of over US$230 million.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Lambs have regularly hosted interviews with controversial doctors and vocal anti-vax advocates.

The guests promoted vaccine conspiracy theories and unproven treatments for COVID-19 that have been widely debunked by health professionals and government bodies around the world.

Foxtel said it supports pro-vaccination messaging, and that they’ve received a small number of complaints about Daystar which will be independently reviewed.
