FIFA has launched a new streaming video service to allow viewers to stream sports content on demand.

Called FIFA+, the new service will provide free live games from competitions around the world.

The service is also expected to be free, with the platform earning its revenue via advertisers.

“There is no plan to charge a subscription fee for the service, that doesn’t mean to say that we may not evolve over time should there be a value proposition that allows us to charge subscription if we step into premium rights or adopt other kind of models,”

FIFA director of strategy Charlotte Burr said.

Interestingly it will also host ‘Netflix style’ documentaries.

The new platform will be funded through advertising.

Archives of every World Cup and Women’s World Cup match ever recorded on camera will also be available to stream on demand on the new platform.
