Families of the Iranian soccer team have received violent threats after players refused to sing the national anthem at the Qatar World Cup.

This cup has witnessed politics spill onto the global stage like never before.

The Iranian soccer team took a stand against the regime in their homeland. They stood silent in their first match against England.

The public display of dissent was broadcast for the world to see.

Now, the families of the players have been threatened with jail time and torture, if the players fail to “behave.”

According to a security source, the players were pulled into a meeting with the Iranian revolutionary guard corps.

Here, they were warned about the danger to their families.

The stark warning comes as Iran gets set to take on the USA on Tuesday.
