Officials from the European Commission, including President Ursula von der Leyen, are expected to travel to war-torn Ukraine to meet with Zelensky

The President of the European Commission and the EU’s top diplomat is set to travel to Kyiv this week.

Ursula von der Leyen is expected to meet with Ukrainian President Zelensky as the world continues to react to Russia’s remarkable aggression.

An EU spokesman confirmed that the meeting will take place “prior to the pledging event #StandUpForUkraine on Saturday in Warsaw”.

This comes as distressing images emerge out of the town of Bucha, near Kyiv, where over 400 people have been killed by Kremlin troops.

Speaking in Bucha over the weekend, Ukrainian President Zelensky accused Russia and its leader Vladimir Putin of committing genocide as he assed the mass destruction.

Russia is accusing Ukraine of staging the images all in an attempt to drum up global outrage.

The bodies of 410 civilians have been discovered in areas surrounding Kyiv, with some laying in mass graves, while others reportedly had their hands tied before being shot at close range.
