The European Parliament has voted on the post-Brexit trade deal, with a result expected in the coming days.

Tensions remain high around Brexit, and top officials have warned the EU “will not hesitate” to take action against the UK when it comes to trade.

European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen says “we will ensure that the Parliament is involved as appropriate and necessary whenever important decisions are taken under the agreement.”

The trade deal relates to goods that transition between the UK and EU but not services, foreign policy, or student exchanges.

It’s expected that the vote will pass, with experts flagging that both sides to the debate are ready to “move on” and the deal has received sufficient scrutiny.
