Neuralink, the brain-chip startup founded by Elon Musk, showcased its first human patient controlling a computer interface using only their thoughts.

Noland Arbaugh, a 29-year-old individual who had been paralysed below the shoulders due to a driving accident, received the implant in January.

The nine-minute video released by Neuralink portrays Arbaugh effortlessly maneuvering a cursor across a laptop screen, engaging in a game of chess, and even turning off music, all achieved through the power of his mind.

This remarkable display marks a significant milestone in the development of brain-computer interface technology.

Elon Musk, the visionary entrepreneur behind Neuralink, expressed optimism about the initial results, highlighting the promising neuron spike detection observed in Arbaugh.

Last month, Musk had revealed that Arbaugh could control a computer mouse solely through his thoughts, foreshadowing the recent demonstration.

During the live stream video, Arbaugh, previously unidentified, shared his journey, detailing his accident-induced paralysis and his subsequent transformation through Neuralink’s innovative implant.
