Elon Musk shows it’s possible to make $26 billion in one day
Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, added a stunning $26 billion to his wealth on Thursday after Tesla’s stock saw its biggest surge in a decade.
With his net worth now sitting at $269 billion, Musk is far ahead of Oracle’s Larry Ellison, another tech titan.
Most of Musk’s fortune comes from his massive stake in Tesla, along with SpaceX and other ventures like his AI startup xAI.
His wealth could rise even more depending on the outcome of a shareholder lawsuit tied to his 2018 pay package.
Massive growth
Tesla’s stock jumped after better-than-expected earnings and Musk’s forecast of a major 20%-30% vehicle growth next year.
Despite a rocky start to 2024, the company’s shares are now up for the year, recovering from what could have been a major setback.
Tesla also beat Wall Street’s profit expectations, thanks to strong revenues from environmental credits and its Full Self-Driving system.
With a track record like this, it seems Musk’s wealth — and Tesla’s momentum — are far from slowing down.
