Peter Dutton, the Opposition Leader, is facing scrutiny over his investment activities during the global financial crisis.

He has denied claims made by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese that he has assets in a private trust.

Dutton insists he has acted with integrity and asserts that there are no hidden assets. He affirmed his investments in bank shares during the financial crisis were based on their value, stating, “I saw value in those shares.”

He acknowledged his family’s substantial property transactions, reportedly totalling $30 million over 35 years from 26 real estate dealings. He maintains that he has only one current property, a farm purchased in 2020, and emphasises he has declared all necessary details.

In response to inquiries about his committee membership at the time of his bank shares purchases, Dutton noted the long time elapsed and that he needed to verify.
