Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock has defeated his Republican challenger Herschel Walker in Georgia’s runoff election.
It’s a major victory for the Democrats, who will now have an outright majority in the Senate.
It brings the senate to a 51 to 49 representation.
It isn’t the same for the government itself though, with Republicans flipping control in the House.
Warnock was slightly ahead of the Trump-endorsed former Walker. However, the difference had been within reach for Warnock.
More than 1.85 million voters in Georgia cast their ballots during an early voting period.
Since his defeat, Walker says he will never stop fighting.
