Three people are dead and at least 50 injured after an Amtrak train derailed in Missouri

The train collided with a dump truck at a public crossing just before 2 pm local time.

The crash happened about 100 miles northeast of Kansas City. The train was traveling from Los Angeles to Chicago.

Authorities are still trying to figure out the exact number of fatalities. But we do know that two of the people who were killed were aboard the train while the third was in the truck.

Amtrak estimates 243 passengers and 12 crew members were aboard the train at the time of the crash.

A school has been turned into a triage center for victims with minor injuries.

This marks the second collision in two days involving a Amtrak train.
