Legendary U.S. singer-songwriter David Crosby has passed away at the age of 81 after a long illness

Part of the original lineup of the Byrds, Crosby appeared on their first five albums, including the 1965 hit cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘Mr Tambourine Man’.

Following this, he co-founded the folk rock group Crosby, Stills & Nash.

This was originally alongside Stephen Stills and Graham Nash, with Neil Young joining in 1969.

Crosby’s widow Jan Dance says “It is with great sadness that our beloved David has passed away.

“Although he is no longer here with us, his humanity and kind soul will continue to guide and inspire us.”
