Czech Republic President taken to ICU

The President of the Czech Republic has been taken into intensive care following a meeting with the nation’s prime minister whose leadership is hanging by a thread

The president plays a key role in selecting the next prime minister in the wake of a federal election.

Following the incident, the Czech Republic’s political future remains unknown for now… as the president is treated at Prague’s Central Military Hospital.

The doctor treating the president says he can not yet speak about the prognosis, but added “the reason for hospitalisations is complications from the illnesses for which he has been receiving treatments for in the past”.

The hospital admission comes at one of the country’s most pivotal moments… and a day after a general election whereby the ruling party appeared to have lost its grip on power.

The president has not confirmed who would prefer to lead the Czech Republic, but has indicated he would ask the leader of the largest single party — and not a coalition.
