Crown Casino has been fined $1 million, the maximum penalty, by the Victorian gambling regulator over its controversial junket operations with international gamblers.

It comes as Crown is set to open the gaming floors at its $2.2 billion tower at Barangaroo in Sydney.

The company is yet to convince the NSW government to hand back that licence.

It comes as Royal commissions in Victoria and Western Australia are now examining Crown’s suitability to operate its casinos in Melbourne and Perth.
