Russia could replace its McDonalds store with something that looks very similar to the golden arches

Russian authorities could replace hundreds of McDonalds stores with a new domestic brand but the proposed logo is already raising some eyebrows.

The fast-food company is set to replace McDonalds stores, which recently closed when Russia invaded Ukraine.

Last week a trademark registration for the ‘Uncle Van-ya’ brand was filed with Russian authorities.

A group of Russian business people are reported to be behind the fast food company.

They say products will be “100 per cent Russian” and the aim is to preserve jobs and reduce prices.

McDonalds closed its stores in Russia amid the war in Ukraine, but has confirmed that all of its employees will continue to be paid.
