Chinese regulators are cracking down on tax evasion in the country’s booming live-streaming sector.

Authorities say they will start requiring online platforms to report livestreamers’ identities, income and profits every six months.

The Chinese State Taxation Administration stated on its website that people that livestream and platforms used, should compete fairly within the media industry and fulfil their legal obligations to pay taxes.

Live-streaming has surged in popularity in China, with millions of influencers running channels across the country.
