A suspected Chinese spy balloon has been spotted over the northern United States
The Pentagon has been tracking the aircraft for several days, but the nation’s military has decided against shooting it down.
Authorities say it is traveling at an altitude well above commercial air traffic and does not present a threat to people on the ground.
They are also confident the surveillance balloon belongs to the People’s Republic of China.
It’s not the first time this has happened.
There’s been several similar instances of this activity over the past several years, including during previous administrations.
It comes as Secretary of State Antony Blinken prepares to travel to Beijing to follow up on Biden’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, last year.
