Chinese health authorities are closely monitoring the spread of a new virus, after several people tested positive

Dubbed the Langya Virus, the Centre for Disease Control says it has detected 35 cases in recent weeks.

Langya Virus was first discovered back in 2018, and these recent infections have been reported in the provinces of Shandong and Henan.

In all but nine of the documented cases, individuals experienced symptoms of fever, fatigue, a cough, loss of appetite, muscle pain, nausea, headache and vomiting.

Severe cases can see patients experience a decrease in white blood cells, liver and kidney failure.

No deaths have been reported so far, but the family the virus belongs to can have fatality rates ranging from 40 to 75 percent, which is much higher than Coronavirus.
