China’s leader Xi Jinping has been exposed to a positive Covid-19 case, after posing for a photo with a Hong Kong lawmaker
Steven Ho tested positive just hours after standing behind Xi, during the leader’s visit to Hong Kong for the 25th anniversary of the handover from Britain.
Until this time, the President had not left China in 900 days and had been following extremely strict Covid-19 preventative measures.
Ho is a prominent figure of the pro-Beijing party and was granted close contact with Xi for an exclusive photo.
However, it might have come at a cost as the Chinese leader is now at risk of contracting the virus.
This comes as China continues on its covid-zero strategy, with the country still facing strict lockdown measures and mass testing.
