The China Eastern Airlines jet that crashed on Monday has been found to have been travelling close to the speed of sound just moments before it slammed into a hillside
The high speed is a concern for investigators as evidence could be destroyed or damaged upon impact.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft was travelling through the air at more than 966 kilometres per hour according to a flight radar.
No survivors have been found in the wreckage of the Boeing 737 aircraft which crashed in southern China as the plane-maker and model are placed on watch.
The speed data has been confirmed through examining footage of the videos.
Experts say “it was an exceedingly high-energy crash” and looks like the plane “literally evaporated into a crater”.
