Over in Africa, Bitcoin has become the official currency in Central African Republic

Its just the second country in the world to approve bitcoin as legal tender.

The Central African Republic is one of the world’s poorest countries, but is rich in diamonds, gold and uranium.

The country has experienced conflict for decades and is a close Russian ally.

According to Central African Republic presidency, Lawmakers voted unanimously to adopt the move.

This will put the country “on the map of the world’s boldest and most visionary countries”

This follows El Salvador, which became the first country to adopt Bitcoin as an official currency last year.

Central African Republic currently uses the French-backed CFA franc as its currency, along with most other former French colonies in Africa.

Some believe its a move to undermine CFA, amid a contest for influence over the resource-rich country between Russia and France.
