Canadian Government bans Chinese tech firms from working on 5G networks

Canada is set to ban two of China’s major telco equipment providers from working on its 5G phone networks.

Restrictions will be slapped on tech firms Huawei and ZTE.

The government says the move will improve Canada’s mobile internet services and protect the safety and security of Canadians.

Several nations – including the UK, US and Australia have already imposed restrictions on the firms.

This decision means that telco companies and internet providers will no longer be allowed to use equipment made by Huawei and ZTE.

Chinese tech firms have been accused by some countries of posing a threat to national security with some stating that they were spying.
