The missile allegedly hit a target 1,500-kilometers away, officials said on North Korea’s state-run media.
That would mean the range of missile is similar to a US-equivalent Tomahawk missile.
It appears there were several launches on both Saturday and Sunday.
It comes just days after North Korea has celebrated the 73rd anniversary of its foundation with a night time military parade in the capital, publishing photographs of marching rows of personnel in orange hazmat suits but no ballistic missiles.
However there are now reports North Korea has tested a new long range cruise missile according to South Korean media.
More details as they come.
