Bitzlato founder arrested on money laundering charges

U.S. authorities have arrested Bitzlato co-founder Anatoly Legkodymov for allegedly processing hundreds of millions of dollars in illicit funds.

The Treasury Department designated Bitzlato under a section of the USA Patriot Act.

This a law used to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, for allegedly laundering illicit funds for ransomware actors based in Russia.

The Hong Kong-based company allegedly exchanged more than $700 million in crypto with a darknet marketplace called Hydra Market, before it was shut down.

U.S. Deputy Attorney-General Lisa Monaco says people will pay, if they try to go against the law.
