At the JFK library, President Biden announced plans to expand on the “cancer moonshot initiative”

On the 60th anniversary of Kennedy’s own “moonshot” speech, the Biden administration announced his own plan “to end cancer as we know it.”

The plan will aim to cut the cancer death rate by 50% in 25 years.

Improve the speed of discovery and enhance treatments for those living with the disease, by using cutting-edge technology developed in America.

“”The goal is to cut cancer death rates by at least 50%, at least 50% in the next 25 years…To turn more cancers from death sentences into chronic diseases people can live with. And to create more supportive experiences for patients and families.”

“The national purpose will serve to organise and measure the best of our energies and skills to end cancer as we know it. And even cure cancers once and for all.”

The administration will also invest in cancer researchers focused solely on the link between toxic exposures and cancer.

The disease hits home for Biden who lost his son, Beau, to brain cancer.

The President blames his son’s exposure to burn pits while deployed in Iraq.

“Today, I’m setting a long term goal for the cancer moonshot to rally America, an ingenuity that we can engage like we did to reach the moon that actually cures cancers — not all cancer — cancer — cures cancer once and for all. “

Joe BIDEN, U.s. PRESIDENT

Airbus faces manufacturing issues with A320 fuselage panels, impacting shares but confirming safety for in-service aircraft.

Airbus is confronting a fresh manufacturing issue after discovering a quality defect in several dozen fuselage panels used on A320-family jets. The revelation sparked investor concern, with shares falling by up to 10% as the news broke.

While the newly identified flaw has caused some delivery delays, Airbus confirms that aircraft already in service are safe and unaffected. The defect is limited to a specific batch of panels, and all new production now meets required standards.

The company has apologised for the disruption and says it is working closely with suppliers to prevent a repeat of the issue.

Bitcoin drops over 7% to $84,555, its lowest in a week, amid waning investor confidence and bearish market pressures.

Bitcoin has suffered a sharp decline, falling more than 7% and slipping to $84,555 — its lowest point in over a week. After a brutal November where BTC shed more than $18,000, its biggest dollar drop since mid-2021, investor confidence is wavering. Analysts say multiple pressures, including negative ratings for major stablecoins, are amplifying bearish sentiment across the market.
