U.S. President Biden heads to Maui to see the devastation of the deadliest wildfires to hit the country in 100 years. But why has it taken him so long?

The wildfires in Maui have shocked the world, leaving at least 99 people dead and raising the historic town of Lahaina to the ground in the deadliest fires in the U.S. for 100 years.

Amid all this President Biden has drawn criticism for his response to the crisis, at one point responding to a question about the tragedy with a “no comment.”

He has since announced he will be visiting the town however, this is what he had to say.

So will this response be enough to quiet his critics and what does he hope to achieve when he gets there?
