Biden ramps up calls for urgent investigation into origins of COVID-19

US President Joe Biden has announced he will ramp up efforts to determine the origins of Covid-19, as speculation grows that it came from a lab leak

Biden has asked the country’s intelligence organisations to “redouble their efforts” and establish a definitive conclusion within 90 days.

In a statement, the President says, “As part of the report, I have asked for areas of further inquiry that may be required including specific questions for China.”

The President continued stating “the U-S will keep working with like-minded partners around the world to press China to participate in a full, transparent, evidence-based international investigation”.

Previous investigations have been handballed to the World Health Organisation but Biden seems committed to having his country take the lead this time around.

This follows a Wall Street Journal article published over the weekend.

It states three researchers from Wuhan’s Institute of Virology became so ill with an unknown virus in November 2019 that they were hospitalised.
