Australia’s race to power is underway as the campaign trail enters week two

Prime Minister Scott Morrison is barely hanging on as he faces opposition Anthony Albanese.

The Opposition Labor party remains in front but Albanese’s ratings have slumped.

Both parties have two very different visions for the country, Morrison putting his power behind economic recovery and national security.

While Albanese is pushing for an overhaul of aged care, more disability support and desperately trying to move on from this unemployment blunder.

Recent polling shows a large percentage of Australian’s might even throw their support behind a minority party, steering clear of the two leading sides.

Political scientist Anne Tiernan says the title is anyone’s at this point in time.

This comes as the controversial security pact between China and the Solomon Islands is finalised.

The deal means China will build a military base just kilometres away from Australia’s borders.

There are concerns about what this means for Australia’s National security and which political party is best to handle the challenge.

The campaign trail will continue for the next few weeks before voters head to the polls on May 21.
