Data centre plans

Anthropic has entered over a dozen preliminary agreements to lease U.S. data centers with a combined capacity exceeding 1 GW.

The startup’s executives also discussed a potential arrangement where Google would provide a financial guarantee for the lease payments.

Google has refrained from commenting on the reports, while Anthropic has not responded to requests for comment.

The demand for its Claude AI models has led Anthropic to pursue significant deals to enhance its computing capacity as it prepares for an IPO.

Earlier in June, Anthropic confidentially filed for a U.S. IPO, though specifics about the offering remain undisclosed.

In April, Alphabet revealed plans to invest up to $40 billion in Anthropic.

Recent funding secured by Anthropic in late May totalled $65 billion at a post-money valuation of $965 billion.

This valuation positions Anthropic ahead of competitors like OpenAI.
