The family of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who was shot and killed on the set of the film Rust is suing Alec Baldwin and the movie’s producers

The family is suing the movie star and the producers for wrongful death of the cinematographer, who was working on the set of Rust when she was fatally shot by Baldwin.

Lawyers for the family of Hutchins revealed the lawsuit had been filed in the name of Hutchins’s husband, Matthew Hutchins, and their son, Andros.

Around four other lawsuits have been filed over the on-set fatality, but this is the first directly tied to one of the two people shot.

The “reckless conduct and cost-cutting measures” of Baldwin and the film’s producers “led to the death of Halyna Hutchins,” lawyer Brian Panish said.

A video created by the legal team showed an animated recreation of the shooting.

Alec Baldwin says he pointed the gun at Halayna Hutchins under “her direction.”

Another member of the crew was also injured during the shooting.
