Demand for Qantas flights rises as concerns grow over Middle East travel, says former CEO Alan Joyce

Alan Joyce believes growing concern about travelling through the Middle East could strengthen demand for Qantas’ ultra-long-haul Project Sunrise flights.

The former Qantas CEO says passengers may increasingly prefer direct services from Australia to London and New York that avoid major Middle Eastern hubs — and will pay a premium for the convenience.

Joyce predicts the unique aircraft could give Qantas an advantage no other airline can easily replicate, with the fleet potentially growing from 12 to as many as 20 jets.
