Life is not going well for Russian Roman Abramovich.

Not only is he being forced to sell his beloved Chelsea football club, he’s now reportedly asking his friends for cash.

Reports suggest the oligarch is struggling to pay his staff and asking friends, including Rush Hour director Brett Ratner, for loans of up to $1 million but he’s not having much luck.

It’s another reputation hit following the majority of his assets being frozen as a result of brutal sanctions on Russia following the war in Ukraine.

It’s been an extraordinary run of late for the once high flying premier league owner.

Last month his private jet was grounded in the United States and last week he was poisoned.

Earlier this year he requested a private meeting with Vladimir Putin, asking him to end the war. Putin clearly didn’t follow those strict orders but did give his blessing to allow Abramovich to act as a mediator in future peace talks.

At the latest round of talks between Russia and Ukraine Abramovich was part of the Russian delegation and spent time with the Turkish president.

According to Forbes the 55-year old has lost an estimated $7.6 billion since Putin invaded Ukraine.
