Abortion laws: US appeals court rules in Biden’s favour

The US Appeals court has ruled not to block Biden’s rules allowing abortion referrals by federally-funded family planning clinics

These clinics will be able to continue this service for now, despite a dozen Republican attorneys general who sued to restore the Trump-era rule.

Associate medical director for abortion services for a Planned Parenthood, Dr. Jessica Hamilton, says the clinic is preparing for increases of patients.

“We are getting ready for this post-Roe world and getting ready to continue to be the safety net for patients from all over the country,” she says

The ban has received continual support by 12 states, who are all pushing for family planning clinics to stop providing abortion referrals while their case is heard

Under Biden’s Administration, rules were reverted to those imposed by former president Barack Obama, during which clinics could refer women seeking abortions to a provider.
