A safety warning for Instagram users

Published

Instagram has released a new feature that allows the app to track users “precise location” without asking permission to do so

We know tech giants are constantly updating features to remain relevant to their users, however sometimes it might be putting them in danger.

Most people don’t know the new Instagram update has occurred and they could be sharing private and potentially dangerous information to strangers.

What used to be shared as a “general location”, is now sharing the exact location, like a persons home.

This has many users, particularly women, concerned about their safety.

It potentially gives criminals and stalkers information that could be used in a malicious way.

So how do you turn it off?

If you use an iOS device, you can go to Settings, scroll down to Instagram, then tap Location, and you can off the “Precise Location” button.
